History: Angelique was a secretary at Torchwood 1 when she met Captain Jack Harkness on one of his trips up to HQ. They went out for drinks that night and the relationship continued over several months, with them meeting each other in various hotel rooms in Swindon. When Angelique’s doctor told her she was pregnant Torchwood made sure she would never see Captain Jack again. Bailey was named after the drink that her mother and Jack shared on their first date, even though she was told she was named after her mother’s favorite dog growing up (we named the dog Bailey….sorry couldn’t help myself).
Torchwood gave Angelique early retirement and pays her a stipend as long as she has no contact with Jack. Torchwood’s reasoning was twofold; having the child where they knew she was would allow them to watch her development and see if she possessed any immortal or other traits from her father and so Torchwood would have something over Jack should he ever betray them. After Jack took over Torchwood 3 he may or may not become aware of Bailey’s existence.
Bailey grew up in Stirling, Scotland. She was labeled a troublemaker and honestly was in her younger years. She was expelled from several schools until in high school (Scotland calls them that) she fell in with the ROTC. There she found discipline and self-esteem that she had never known before. With her mother’s blessing she left school early for a career in the British Army. What her mother didn’t know was that right out of basic training she was recruited for Torchwood 1. At first she was put through Torchwood’s training then became a weapon specialist as part of a field wet works team.
Then came the invasion. It started quietly enough with only a few people disappearing. Most residents of the UK assumed that UNIT or Torchwood had something to do with it. The truth was that UNIT advised Torchwood of the arrival of the Nestene Consciousness but advised that they would handle negotiations. By the time the Autons were through with UNIT they had infiltrated it and moved on to taking over Torchwood. This time the Doctor, for whatever reason, didn’t come stop them.
Random Facts: After joining Torchwood she hardly ever calls her mother, something that her mother bemoans every time she does call her.
She may favor her mother in every other respect but her eyes are all her father’s.
Her mother told her that her father had abandoned her instead of the truth that he was an immortal living in Cardiff fighting alien threats to the world, she thought the lie was more believable.
She loves music and can often be seen with her iPod’s ear buds in her ears when she doesn’t want to/doesn’t need to listen.
RP Sample: (At least 100 words, from any previous roleplay or in character. It's just to gauge your characterisation and general spelling and grammar.)
She had blood on her hands and her heart beat so fast she thought it would burst through her chest. In her arms lie her dead teammate, her hands still holding the wound that took his life. The car stops and she doesn’t even notice it till her remaining teammate yells at her “Bailey, we’re here, we have to go now!” She snaps out of her shock and let’s go of the body, picking up Dodger (her trusty gun) and getting out of the dark SUV. She looks behind the car to see if their pursuers were still behind them and is not disappointed, as another car comes into view with what looks like mannequins with guns in their hands shooting away. Her teammate tosses a smallish case to her and yells “Go, get this to them!” as he returns fire. She hesitates a moment, clearly torn between leaving her teammate and what she’s been ordered to do. She fires off a few rounds and turns toward the Roald Dahl Plass building, her strides quacking. She finally reaches the door to the Tourist Centre as a scream is heard behind her. She doesn’t need to look, she knows that she’s the only one left now.
Inside the Centre sits Ianto Jones, but not the one that is familiar, having traded in his suit and tie for Kevlar armor and gun belts. She holds up the case as he hits the button to open up the entrance to Torchwood. Ianto then walks out from behind the counter and draws a gun, placing himself in between Bailey and the incoming Autons as she makes a mad dash downstairs.
Inside the Hub Jack Harkness waited. He knew who she was and that she might not even be the one who walked…or ran through that door. His heart in his throat he waited till he heard footsteps. As she walked into the room he exhaled surprising himself, he didn’t know he was even holding his breath. She walked up to him he almost didn’t register her saying “I’ve brought it sir, I just don’t know if it’ll work yet.” as she handed him the case. He offered her a grin and turned towards the rift controls. “Excellent work Mason. Just one more thing to do.” he said as he pressed one last button and the rift alarm sounded. She watched him patiently as he opened the case and walked over to her, placing a hand on her shoulder and looking her over “You aren’t hurt are you.” She looked down at her hands and shirt, soaked through with blood. She can still hear her teammates scream as he protected her with his own life. “It’s just….” she stammers as her blue eyes look back up to him. In a moment she’ll hear the gunshot sounds and feel the bullet tear through her but in this moment there is a small dawning that the eyes she is looking into are familiar. Then suddenly time rights itself and she is dropping to her knees in front of Jack as he screams “No!”. He catches her across the chest and returns fire with the other hand as an arc of energy appeared behind him. She looked up at him again as he whispered to her “If you don’t make it then it’s all for nothing, tell the Doctor I’m sorry.” and she felt herself tossed like a rag doll into the energy as she passed out.
