Owen visits TW3...(and snagging something)

Owen flew from USA and came to London, taking a coach from Heathrow Airport to Cardiff Owen decided to make a visit at Torchwood. He wanted to check on Daniel’s work. But he can’t walk in and say he was there for that. Owen decided his excuse was dropping in for a visit. It would be nice to see Gwen again. It would be nice to see everyone.

Owen walked in the hub, dripping wet from the rain. He wore a disappointed face when he saw Gwen was not at her desk. He called her phone and left a message. He figured Gwen was with Rhys.

Walking away from the entrance, Owen felt the place hit his emotions. This was his life. This was where he started a new life and it was taken away from him. Captain Jack Harkness had replaced Owen with Daniel. Owen wondered who Daniel was. Yea, this was a good visit. Owen could try to gain information on the Daniel. Owen knew what Daniel was capable to do.

Owen walked down the steel stairs to the medical gunnery area. It was spotless. Ianto had kept the area very clean. Eying the blood cold box, Owen moved over to it. He opened the door, looking through the blood, and he snagged Daniel’s blood test tube. But he realized it would be found missing. He slipped in his pocket anyways, closing the door.

Taking a look around the medical bay, Owen felt good but he was sad. It used to be his work station. He was looking at the observation table. He remembered every thing on that table. All the aliens he opened up. All the aliens he observed. He took a deep breath, climbing up the stairs to the work station. The station that used to be his but it is now Daniel’s. He sat down on the swirling chair, he had to adjust the seat and he typed on the keyboard. He was running through files. He decided to look up Daniel’s. He wanted to know if the man told Jack about his ‘condition’ and Owen wanted to know about it. Owen was not hiding that he was doing this. Because he has Tosh for hacking Torchwood Three but Owen had not shared this too Tosh. He decided to let Daniel deal with this super strength and quick healing to Jack Harkness. There was no reason to report it to Captain Jack. Maybe Owen was hoping Captain Jack Harkness will see it was an action against holding information and lord knows that Captain Jack Harkness is the KING of secrecy. Owen hated secrecy. He hated not knowing.

“All don’t be sad,” Owen said when he heard someone in the hub, “I am here for a visit,” holding his hand up. “Please no group hugs. Tosh could not make it. So it will be unfair if we have a group hug. And you lot know how much she likes group hugs!” He said all that while he was working on his research on the computer.

The day wasn't even close to being over yet, it was one of those days where things kept coming right at him. It seemed like there was a never ending supply of issues that needed to be taken care of. However, it wasn't without its benefits. Both him and Ianto were able to have some fun in the SUV before cleaning up the mess that was left in the alley. There was nothing hotter than getting ordered around by the other male and being handled by him. Though afterwards, it meant they had to go back out in the rain and take care of the body that belonged to the creature.

Just after they dropped off the body in cold storage, Ianto had been called away by Jack to handle something with him. Daniel just hoped that Jack didn't find out about what him and Ianto had done in the SUV. At the same time, Daniel was told to go talk and see what the police had for them waiting at a crime scene. That turned out to be another victim to the creature, one that it must have gone before they found it. Playing the Torchwood card, he took the scene over and sat nothing. That body was now laying in the cold storage waiting for Daniel to take a look at it as well as the creature.

He wasn't sure what Ianto or Jack was up to, let alone Gwen because when he got back from the crime scene the Hub was empty. Daniel took the chance to get a shower and changed into some dry clothes. Hoping that it was the last time he had end up soaking wet. After all that he been going on today, he was tired and up for a nap but there was still a lot of work to be done. Daniel had stood under the hot water in the shower for a good half an hour but then it grew cold. He had no idea that Owen was in the hub or what he was up to. While he was standing under the water, he was looking down at his arm which looked like it had been a chew toy for a Tiger or something like that. The wounds were healing slower than normal and Daniel hoped that whatever was going on with him was fading way. Little did he know that the poison had affected his system thus slower healing.

After getting out of the shower, he grabbed a towel and wrapped it around him. He couldn't help the thoughts about having Ianto or Jack in the shower, maybe a threesome with other men. Those thoughts were quickly shook away as he sat down on a bench in front of his locker. A hand reached over an grabbed the med kit that he had sat down there earlier. He cleaned out the wounds again before wrapping them in more gauze. Next he worked on taping his ribs, his right side was badly bruised but the bruises looked a week old already. The ace bandaged was wrapped as tightly as he could. The locker door was opened and he looked at the shirts and pants that hung inside.

The light tan shirt was picked along with black cargo pants and changed into before he slide on some socks and dry shoes. It felt so much better wearing his clothes again, having dry shoes and socks on again. A hand came up and rubbed at his tired eyes, hoping Ianto would be back soon and have something warm for him to drink. After cleaning up in the shower slash locker room, Daniel head back upstairs just in time to hear Owen's voice ring out through the Hub. A groan was given and he thought about just turning around and leaving. "I'm not hugging you and why are you here?" He said. Not really in the mood to deal with the former medic of this Torchwood.

All the files on Daniel were what the goverment wrote and created on him. Thus very little to go on. Just the basic stuff. Saying that he had been in the military for three years, left and went on to become a Paramedic. Was injuried about three years ago which left him without a memory and that he had been in a coma for a year before waking up. The last two years were all that he remembered out of everything. There was nothing in his personal file to suggest that he was anytihng less than a human. As for his blood, it was some that he grabbed from someone he knew that he had the same blood type. All it would show that he was in perfect health and nothing to show that it wasn't his blood.

Both Daniel and Ianto were waiting until the Hub was empty to run the test they were talking about but so far there hadn't been a moment nor the time to run those test so there was nothing else there on Daniel.

Rolling his eyes, Owen heard Daniel from about. That was the last person Owen would like to see. Turning around, wearing his Owen’s wise smirk, “My two feet,” he said spinning around back to the computer.

The computer screen had Daniel’s personal file, “Oh nothin’ just pokin’ around the files,” he said smirking. He wanted Daniel see Owen poking around. “I am checkin’ on you.” Owen said sourly. “As a superior Torchwood I need to see how you comin’ by. After all, I still feel attached to Torchwood Three,” sneering at Daniel.

Placing his hands behind his back of his head, Owen leaned back in the chair and swirled the chair around to look at Daniel, “So you mentioned your healin’ ability to Captain Jack Harkness?” he titled his head a bit. “Let’s get this in the open,” Owen stood up. “Yea cards on the table facin’ up,” he said holding his arms out and walking over to Daniel. “I don’t like you. I am not sure I will like you. There could be a small chance,” Owen held his hand up, showing his index finger almost touching his thumb. “No,” he pressed them together, “That’s the chance. Just the tiniest but there is a chance. It’s very, very, very small,” he said. He paused he just sounded like that stupid Doctor.

“But that day is not today. I have more experience than you, Daniel. Torchwood Three will always be very important to me. It’s my bloody home. THIS place was my purpose!” Owen pointed to the medical bay. “I am so prayin’ that you will fuck up. I am hopin’ to get a call that Jack asked me to come back.” To be honest, Owen thought that might not happen. Unless Owen found a way to do a real bad job over in Torchwood Four to be called back to Torchwood Three.

“Did you ever been were in a situation that someone came took your place? No. Of course not! You got a fucked up pasted. Bloody you fit in. But still you come dancin’ in takin’ my job away. I don’t understand it. I really don’t understand how one day you’re got my job. It was like the past when we all had lost forty-eight hours and we don’t remember one thin’! The computers been erased. Two days gone from our lives. And than I come back findin’ I was gone for a month. Four fuckin’ weeks! I don’t remember what had happened!” Owen had never told people he was having nightmares about a skeleton type thing in his dreams and he heals slower too. “You got to understand you are livin’ in my destiny!”

Shaking his head, Owen placed his hands on his hips, “So, I see you configured the Alien 231 there. Nice job,” Owen threw the compliment in. “And nice job on getting’ the brain wave length comparison of the Weevil brain wave to the human too. Look, Daniel, I can be a pain in the arse. That’s my job. I am the thorn! Big thorn that loves a good fight! I don’t want to be the enemy. I just…” he looked away, sat on the couch. “I miss it and it kills me. You got to understand that.” Leans his head in his hands to hide his face.

Daniel wondered how or if this day could get any worse than what it was now. There was one way he could think of and he really didn't want that to happen. But he knew whatever reason Owen was here wasn't good. He swallowed hard as he looked up at Owen, wishing he would not be there and that he was just going crazy. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a bottle of pain killers and swallowed two of the pills before tucking it back in his pocket. "Doesn't sound like that is nothing. Why couldn't you just down that from your place, why come all this way to do that?" He asked. He was really on guard at the moment and there was no way he was going to slip up around the other man. It was something Daniel knew he couldn't risk not after what had happened.

He stood there listening to the other man, still rather pale and his arm bandaged up with the sleeve rolled up on that side. All Daniel was wanting was a moment to kick back and relax on the sofa before the others came back Ianto had worn him out earlier not to mention the fight also left him feeling kind of drain but all thoughts of that were tossed out. "There is nothing to be checking in on. I'm doing great here, I am part of this team and becoming a huger part of it each passing day. They trust me and I trust them with my life. Daniel shot a glared at Owen as the other man spoke about being a superior and seeing how he was coming along. "Just say it, you want me out of here so you can come crawling back. Last I check your not my superior so shove it." He said, trying his best to stay calm.

His left hand came up and rubbed at his eyes before turning over to one of the work areas where their was an unopened bottle of water. It saved him from going into the kitchen, he wasn't looking forward to the warm water but he was thirsty. "Why do you care if I have or have not? Does it look like I am healing?" He said as he glanced down at his arm then lifted up his shirt to show the taped ribs. Most of his left side was black and blue well the parts not hidden by the wrap. His movements caused him to wince as he lifted up then dropped down his shirt. Daniel opened the bottle of water and took a drink from it. "Ever think that maybe that bullet was coated in something? After all we both know that girl wasn't a human." He countered, hoping to get Owen off his case.

A part of him wishing Ianto was around to handle Owen so he could go rest for a moment. Everyone around here knew that Daniel was barely sleeping and had been pushing two weeks with very little sleep. Sometimes going days without sleep as he tried to find out what was killing those young men from the medical stand point. Jack, Owen and Ianto had been following leads and trying to find something in common between other things that would come up. That also didn't add in the times that Ianto and Jack wanted him for other things. Which helped him relax and get sleep most nights because they had worn him down to the point where he couldn't keep his eyes open anymore. "I hate cards." He said as Owen stood there in front of him. His eyes watched the other's hand and it took him everything he had not to shove the other man back at the moment.

"I don't care if you like me or not. Who cares if that day ever comes. Look Dr. Harper." He said rather sharply, almost glaring at the other man. "You man have more experience in Torchwood but that's because your not the new guy. However, I am the best damn medic out there on the streets. I can think faster on my feet than anyone handle myself. Give me as many as years as you have had in Torchwood and I'll be better than you." He said, knowing it was cocky but he was out to prove that. He was going to make sure it happened. Daniel couldn't stand Owen and wanted to show everyone here that he was better than that man.

"It still your blood purpose. You got promoted and given a station of your's to be in charge of. That should make anyone freaking happy. And it should be thought of an honor that you have been given your own team. I don't think its something Jack goes around doing for anyone all that often." He told Owen, wondering what Jack saw in the other man that warranted him getting his own team. Daniel's left hand, bandages and all formed a fist as Owen continued on, talking about how he was prying that he would mess up. "I'm not going to so get that thought of your head because isn't not happening. This my home and I've become something more than you ever would be with this team. Well two members of it that is. And if getting caught screwing Ianto in front of Jack isn't going to get me fired, nothing is." Daniel could still recalled taking a tumble down the stairs when Jack had come up behind him that night just as him and Ianto were really getting into it. That night, he was scared to death of Jack and thought was going to be fired until but it didn't happened.

"No I haven't. I spent a year in a coma after the helicopter I was in crashed. Everyone died in that crash. I lost my best friend and my EMT in that crash. Two good friends gone, the guy's life I had just brought back is dead to. I spent another year trying to figure out why me. Why I was still alive and they were gone. You get on a helicopter, watch and feel as the copter loses control. Seeing the fire all around from the view of the windows and then the building come at you and there is nothing you can do. Then tell me how you feel. I am here because I am great what I do, because Jack wanted me here." He said, standing his ground not backing down from it. "Clearly Jack believes in you and trust you enough to give your own Torchwood and team. Maybe you should think of it as an honor instead of curse. Because right now you are acting like a bloody child and not seeing how great he has things." Daniel turned away from Owen, finishing the bottle of water as he leaned against the work the work station.

His eyes closing for a moment, wishing he wasn't feeling weak at the moment. All he wanted to do was lay down but he couldn't with Owen standing there in front of him. "Yeah sure whatever. I was just doing my job. Go be a thorn in someone's else side." He said as he moved to walk past Owen, bumping the other man as he did so. "Clearly from what I seen, you have some trouble in Boston and there is something coming that has Jack worried, freaked out. Maybe you are not seeing the whole picture of why you have your own team or in the spot you are in. Never know what Jack knows and how much. After all he is from the future." Daniel told Owen before he sat down on the sofa, holding his side. A groan of pain given as he laid down carefully.

"Doesn't sound like that is nothing. Why couldn't you just down that from
your place, why come all this way to do that?" Owen did not want to answer.
He chose to ignore that question. Owen could see Daniel was still healing. That
rose curiosity in Owen.


There is nothing to be checking in on. I'm doing great here, I am part of
this team and becoming a huger part of it each passing day. They trust me and I
trust them with my life. Owen slowly lifted his head up from his hands and
looked up at Daniel as he talked about how Torchwood trusted Daniel and how
Daniel trusted them back. That is the truth. Owen wanted the man out of
Torchwood. Owen really wanted to be back to Cardiff. He really hated change.


Why do you care if I have or have not? Does it look like I am healing?
Owen sat there still in silence listening but he had to do a one liner. “Did you
do tests?”


Leaning back on the couch, Owen sat there listening to Daniel rant. But he had
to do another one liner, after Daniel showed the wound. “Is that the same wound?
A new one?”

I hate cards Owen looked at Daniel. “Figure of imagination,” Owen piped
in and under his breath. “Could be missing that though.”

"You man have more experience in Torchwood but that's because your not the
new guy. However, I am the best damn medic out there on the streets. I can think

have had in Torchwood and I'll be better than you. BAM! The words made Owen
sprang up to his feet, being angry at Daniel, Owen wanted to run over and rip
his face off. Owen tightened his jaw, made fists and he stood there. Owen did
not want to tear off Daniel’s face off, he wanted to yank Daniel’s tongue and
tie it around his neck and strangle the man with his own tongue.

I'm not going to so get that thought of your head because isn't not
happening. This my home and I've become something more than you ever would be
with this team. Well two members of it that is. And if getting caught screwing
Ianto in front of Jack isn't going to get me fired, nothing is.

Owen made an Owen face of I did not want to hear that part. Owen held his hand
up, “Please I did not need to hear that part. I mean really I didn’t” the image
of Ianto, Jack and Daniel shagging each other made Owen sick a bit.


Clearly from what I seen, you have some trouble in Boston and there is
something coming that has Jack worried, freaked out. Maybe you are not seeing
the whole picture of why you have your own team or in the spot you are in. Never
know what Jack knows and how much. After all he is from the future

Getting the cock up attitude, Owen placed his hands on his hips again, “Well,
Daniel there things we always learn we never saw before. And we had one in
Boston. And yes I take it as an honor to be a leader,” Owen said. He held back
of the stress of the job. “Daniel you should go lay down,” Owen said. “Do you
want to find yourself waking up to see me looking at you and say these words
‘Did I say lay down?’” Owen said. “And Jack will be upset because you did not
laid down.”

Owen did not like when Daniel bumped into Owen. He looked at the man. “You a
friggin’ stubborn arse. You be a great addition and keep them intact,” he said
walking to the computer. He typed away on the keyboard. He looks over at what
was Toshiko’s work station. There was a look of he wished she was there. “Your
right, over in Boston has a huge and complex science and medical research
facility and a bigger staff,” Owen said. “You better send us things you find.
Don’t give me bullshit. Remember Torchwood Four is RESEARCH and that’s what we
do best. That’s what my people do. And they are pretty good. They impress me
with their skills. And yes I am blessed. For your information I am actually
calmer over there. I really have no reason to be thorn. Over in Boston is a new
start. Maybe it is better that way. So I like it but you got to understand
Daniel, I miss it here. Because Daniel as being a leader of a team is a heavy
responsible and there are days I don’t want it,” he said raising an eyebrow. “If
you are screwing with Ianto and Jack I am happy that big pond is keepoing me
away.”


Looking at Daniel’s file on the computer, “Be honest here, Daniel. You’re
healing slower or are you not healing. I saw you heal fast. Did you get hurt
from another alien?” he leaned back in his chair. “Do you feel your muscles
stiffening? How is your appetite? Are you eating more or less? Do you feel weak?
And don’t cop out on me. I am Torchwood still, a doctor and I have nothing to
gain by finding that you might be abnormal. Unless your blood can cure cancer
than I will be all over you and you and I will be saving thousand lives. But I
don’t think that’s the case. I am sure Jack had told you that you’re Torchwood
for eternity!” Owen paused and gone back to asking questions. “You said you and
Ianto you and shagged,” he said professionalism. “How is Ianto? Is he feeling
well? Is it something one of you picked up? Did you run Ianto’s blood through to
see any abnormal? If you find anything odd you can always run a comparison to
Martha Jones blood sample she donates. I recommend her blood for a source
because it mutated in Time and Space. I got Torchwood Four working on that and
comparing things with Martha and UNIT. See I am not all that bad. Now back to
questions what about stool? Bowel problems? Sleeping problems? Loss of weight?
Did you lose density in your muscles? Did you lose strength? What about balance?
You looking at me wondering why I am asking all these questions and your
thinking I am a doctor and I know this. You are right, dr Daniel but some times
a doctor need to step in help another doctor because us doctors depend on each
other because if we don’t we would be dead hundreds of years ago.”

Daniel had laid down on the sofa, glad to be off his feet for a moment. He doubted that would last for long with how the day was going. He half expect either Jack, Gwen or Ianto calling to back them up there where ever Jack and Gwen had gone. Ianto had already left to head up there and check on the other two after ordering him to rest. Which was what he was trying to do but could not with Owen there. He wasn't laying down because the other man had told him because he needed and wanted to lay down.

"No I did not run any test nor going to. I broken so ribs, gave myself a anti counter to the creature's poison and cleaned up my arm. Ianto said not to do test until he was back anyways" His good arm rested across his chest, holding hid right side. The pain killers kicking in slowly. Which was takikng the edge of the pain but also helping him to stay calm even though he knew the other man wanted to rip him apart of that time. He doubted Owen could do that given what his last punch had done to the man but he was still writing that off as a lucky shot. Besides he trust Ianto with his life and knew whatever they found would stay between the two of them. With Owen, he didn't even trust the other man nor wanted to. All the signs where there that Owen was up to something.

His eyes looked over at Owen when he asked if the wounds were new ones. "Yes they are. A few hours old. Got them thanks to that unknown creature in cold storage. It had killed four people. We got lucky today with finding and had no choice to kill it." Daniel explained to the other man. He need to get working on that but wanted to rest first. Last thing he wanted was to go against Ianto's orders. He could tell Owen was still pissed off even after he had laid down. Daniel was ignoring it at this point not wanting to get into another fight with the other man. He was still wondering why Owen was here and he knew it wasn't for the reasons he had stated. Everything was reading that he was up to something but what he was, he wasn't sure.

When it came to being stubborn, he knew he was but a huge part of how he acted depended on the people around him and the mood at the moment. At the time, he didn't like Owen and he knew the other man didn't like him thus the reason why he was acting that way. "I know I will be great here and a part of the reason the team is held together." Daniel watched Owen work on the computer for a moment before closing his eyes. His breathing was still a little slow because it was hard to do. Daniel had seen how this team became like a family to him, how they were always there for each other. And he was doing his best to fit in and hold everyone together when times were tough. The hardest one to do that with was Jack, sometimes it was best to leave him alone until he cool down or had sometime to be by himself.

"It might be reseach at the moment but you know things can change in a heart beat. With the rift activity increasing, it means more danger and trouble coming your way." He said, not sure why he was trying to be nice to the other man. "Besides its not like there is a sign saying you have to stay away from here. Maybe you should take it up with Jack." He ignore the part about his sex life and the pond keeping Owen apart. He was sure that they would have killed each other by now if Owen was still working here. He also knew that Jack never did anything without a reason. Whatever the reason there was for another Torchwood in Boston would either come clear with time or if someone managed to get Jack to open up. The lather was better than the second choice. Getting Jack to talk was worse than trying to pull a tooth.

Then came all the medical questions as Owen stopped chewing him out and went all Doctor on him. Daniel really didn't have answers for thos questions since it only just happened. "Everyone is clean, nothing be exchanged between us in that sense." His mind drifting back to what happened a few hours ago in the SUV. There was a slight grin on his face from those thoughts. "Ianto and Jack are doing great" He finally spoke up before listening to Owen as he went back on about Martha and blood. Daniel didn't want Owen treating him, let alone touch him. So he was avoiding answering those questions or saying much about it because he didn't want to be treated or touched. "Look, I haven't been sleeping a lot lately and all this just happened a few hours ago. I hurt, I am tired, feel sick to my stomach. Still trying to get warm after being out in the freezing rain all day."

Owen lifted an eyebrow on the mention of the alien in the cold storage. Daniel mentioned poison. “Are you sure you’re not feeling stiff?” Owen asked again. Typing away on the keyboard Owen had gone to the alien. Squinting at the computer screen, Owen could see a familiar to an alien they had encountered. “That’s the same bugging alien,” Owen said.

“I am sending the files you have here and I am having them send the files they have on the alien,” Owen said. Owen stopped, looking with a doctor look at Daniel, “Is that going to be okay? But here let do this,” he turned around back to the computer and typed away. “There you go mate, you got files from Boston. Now, you are satisfied?”

“All the victims we found had poison in muscles in the skull. The rest of the body was completely stripped of its muscular. Three cases to be exact…oh no that is five now. Been notified on two more,” he blinked at the screen.

Walking over to Daniel, “You hate me. I am going to make you hate me more. I am going to order you a doctor’s order,” Owen pointed his digit at Daniel’s chest. “You will go down there and we are going to run tests on you. Because you got super strength and heal fast. About the same as Jack Harkness I believe. No one else on the team got hit and no-one on my team had not been poisoned by the creature. And if you are hit by the same poison by the victims you should be dead,” crossing his arms Owen looked down and continued. “And if you feel sick your super healing is trying to fight back, eh..sounds right…but, now you have super healing but how super it is? You want to challenge that super healing of yours?”

Daniel laid there thinking back to the alley. The creature had been cornered and felt threaten so it attacked. He should have stayed with Ianto but then would the other man being laying down in cold storage if things had gone differenty? He didn't want to think about that. His miond kept drifting back to the fight. The black oil like liqiud that was dripping off the creature's teeth... very sharp teeth that tore at his arm. Shredding it like it was paper. Daniel swallowed hard and pushed the thoughts away. "Don't feel stiff Owen. The counter agent I made seems to be working or worked. Had enough of that black liquid from a few other attacks to create the antidote." Daniel exlpained.

"Sure... Better to share what we have and work as a team if there are more of those creatures out there. Too much at risk not to." Daniel didn't care about the files or what Owen was doing with the computer. Everything Daniel knew was in there on him showed nothing other than he was a good man who had done great in his job. Only thing he was trying to hide what whatever was going on with him. "I'm fine and I am sure the others will be thankful for those files."

Daniel looked puzzled when Owen explained about what had happened over there. "Here we only had victims who had their throats swollen shut, hearts gave out on top of having a stroke. Nothing else was taken or missing. We figured the creature was feeding of their life force..." Daniel expained wondering if they even had the same creature. It wasn't sounding like but then again what if one the creatures were sick and needed to feed in a way it could?

He sat up slowly and carefully, trying his best to avoid moving in a way that would hurt which is hard with broken ribs. His eyes glared up at Owen when he was poked. "I do hate you and I'm not going down there for test so drop it and trying to find a way to get me fired." Daniel said as he stood up, feeling dizzy. His eyes closed for a moment before he opened them looking down at the ground. "Used a antidote to counter the posion. I will be fine once I get some rest." He said trying to avoid addessing the healing and strength issue. He didn't want to deal with that.

Owen put his hands on his hips, looking at Daniel with a disgust look. The man was not going to fudge. Owen wanted to punch Daniel out. Owen as sure bad acting he was not up to nothing. He wished he thought of it before. He wished he could out smart Daniel.

Owen decided to be forward, “Look, I am doing what I can. Even if I arrange a way for you to get fired you would be replaced by someone else and it won’t be me. Jack has sent me to Boston for his own reason. I don’t know why. I am not going to try figure him out because he still holds secrets from ALL us. And you got to learn to live with it. So, I do know him and I don’t know him,” he looked down while he was figure what to say next because he looked a little pale, “I am not sure what’s going on. I know about a year ago I was in second in charge when Jack and Toshiko were trapped in World War II. Ianto and I had a war over because I was determined to get them back. It was a chance I decided to do. I opened the rift and that’s when things gone to hell. To make the story short my little mess up is a consequence that I have to live and the world as well. You heard about the rift blips like burps. I had lost a member to one. Stray was pulled out of this time to lord knows where. But it was the rift…that is my doing. Every time when there is a blip, I feel terrible about it,” Owen said sitting down, placing his hands to his face.

Owen took a deep breath. “And it’s my fault. It’s my fault that these blips pop up. Now, you got that. I am going to share something else to you. The time when I vanished something happened. I don’t know what it was. But when I look at Jack I get a feeling he think I did something in some time. Or something had happened. There is a gray area in my life that is like a void and I am not sure what had happened. I am not sure Jack knows. But I don’t. I just felt someone took a big rubber (American is Eraser) rubbed me off the book of life here in Cardiff. It is a time thing. Things don’t make sense. I had done tests on myself. A good doctor does these things and I recommend you do it yourself, Daniel. My body heals slower. My blood count is correct. I got a healthy body as an eighty-year old but my I look my late twenties. I compare my biological to my past and there is a change. But it makes no sense…now you know something that I had been keeping quiet since I came back. You wonder why told you? Because I been dying to tell someone. It’s secret out of a bag. Jack hires people who he likes. I don’t like you. But if Jack trusts you than I will have to accept that I got to trust you.” Owen did not mention he has a hard time sleeping because he has bad nightmares and he can't sleep well either.

Owen stood up, “Now, I came here to visit old friends too,” raising both eyebrows. “I am going to let you relax. I am heading to visit Martha Jones over in UNIT and see what they have. They are expecting me because I called all ready ahead,” he started to walk away and he stopped. Looking at Daniel, “I am going to be very frank here, Daniel. I came here because ‘these’ guys are like family for me too.” Owen turned around and walked out. Owen was going to say he took the blood but he decided not too. But Owen will want to try to get more samples.

Owen came back walking in, “Daniel, I forgot to mention something. Torchwood Four likes to request to have a biological status on your body please. We are interested in your biology. We believe more we know about you more we can help you,” he smiled, and walked out. That was the truth why Owen was here but Owen was investigating to get more fine detail on Daniel and one was in his jean pocket.

Daniel knew how to hold his ground and it was hard to get him to budge on something if he didn't want to. Right now, he only trusted Ianto with his care and didn't want to run any test with a man who would use whatever he found to benfit him. Daniel was really wishing that Ianto was around right now, he could use some support and then someone to curl up with and fall asleep next to. Though he knew the second one of those would not happen until later if he was lucky. Daniel glanced up at Owen as the other man spoke about getting him fired and such.

Knowing that he wasn't going to get fired was something he was sure about. He belonged to Torchwood and Jack trusted him. Even though he was going behind his back and holding things about. It wasn't the right time to tell Jack or to have any of this come to the surface. Daniel was aslo scared, he kept thinking he would end up in one of the cells for the rest of his life. If someone could assure him that nothing was going to happen it would be easier on him. Only person who had done that so far for him was Ianto.

Though he was starting to feel better about Owen not wanting to replace him but the rest of it didn't have him feeling at ease or able to relax around the other man yet. "We all have our secrets and some of them never see the day of light and some should just be left there." Daniel finally spoke up. Daniel knew if his past held something horrbile in it, he wanted it to be left there. He didn't care if he never got answers about himself, it wasn't something he wanted to know about. Sure he was missing a huge chunk of his life but he was proud of who he was these days and liked his life. The last thing he wanted was for something to come along and ruin that for him. "All Jack knows is that one moment you were trying to stop some plant from expoding and the next thing you were gone. Tosh is lucky to be alive because Gray shot here in the upper body. If he did anything, he got both of you away from him because he feels like you both could have been killed thanks to his brother. Gwen told me how messed up Jack was after he had to put Gray into cold storage. Maybe getting the both of you out here was another way of him to forget about that day. I don't know but if anything, Jack is looking after the both of you. Your still apart of this team even if your not here." Daniel said, still trying to be nice to the other man. Even though all he wanted to was get away from Owen.

Only reason he had known about Owen losing a member was because he heard Jack and Ianto talking about it one night. It wasn't something that he cared about all that much. Daniel knew that with this job, everyone died young or had something happen to them before old age could get them. So he tried not to get to attached from those who were not here apart of the team he was apart of. "There was nothing you could do about besides, you know better than anyone how this job can get you. So let it go. If she lived through the rift and ended up some where else. She is most likely screwed up or damaged beyond what you can picture." Sure he sounded like a bastard but he had talked to Gwen in depth about the rift a few weeks after he had first become apart of Torchwood. He wanted to know more about the rift and he wished that he didn't know what about those things.

Daniel leaned against the wall as he listened to Owen explained about what was going on with his body. He knew those things from the time he had to treat Owen. It didn't make senes but he couldn't explain it. He said nothing about it and let it go until Owen started speaking about Jack trusting him and how Owen needed to do the same. There was a nod of his head to the other man's words before he started to move towards Jack's office, wanting to lay down on the cot in there. Just to get to some place more private. He was glad Owen started to leave. "Then stop trying to be a jerk and whatever you are trying to prove about me or whatever you hold against me. Drop it because it will push them away from you." He said, hoping that would be enough to get Owen to leave him alone.

Just about as he reached Jack's office, Owen came back in and Daniel gave a low groan. Closing his eyes for a moment as he hung his head. Why couldn't he be left alone to get some rest? "I am a human, nothing special about me. Whatever was going on with me, isn't anymore. I don't need or want help because there is nothing wrong me." He said before walking into Jack's office. Hoping the other man wouldn't mind. The smells in the office were a comfort to him. It smelled both like Jack and Ianto. Daniel moved over to where the cot was and laid down, closing his eyes. Glad he had planned someone's else blood instead of using his own. If Owen was going to try anything, at least there wasn't a vile of his own blood laying around.
